Must see of the area. Go by boat, kayak or walking over the ice. It is a pretty long walk (3 miles round trip.) over slippery ice and snow so be somewhat fit and fast on your feet! You will be glad you did.

beautiful place, friendly park rangers. activities and exploring available depends completely on the weather of the day. many different types of boats out and about in the water during the summer months.

Kayaking out to caves in the summer is a top 10 must do, hike across ice in the winter for a different view.

The Sea caves of the Apostle Islands are a regional natural wonder, accessible best by kayak or by powerboat. Caution should be used as Lake Superior can cause death by hypothermia very quickly. Park service employees staff the Meyer's beach launch site and their advice should be headed. If you are not an expert rescue trained sea kayaker, you should only go on a guided tour by a reputable outfitter (one approved by the Park Service).

We kayaked up from Meyers beach and the views from the water was awesome! We were able to paddle into several of the sea caves because they were pretty deep. For this reason I think seeing them from the water would be much better than the hike. We rented kayaks from Meyers beach, which you need to organize ahead of time. The water did get more rough as the day went on and I would estimate about 2-3' waves but even for us novices it was manageable. I highly recommend doing this! The day we were there in July I think we saw 1 other group in kayaks so we had the caves almost to ourselves. Do it!
